Simply put, using SEO techniques to double your search traffic involves:

  • Writing useful content, including relevant keywords.
  • Building backlinks.
  • Using internal linking.
  • Publishing articles for other websites
  • And many more.

Already feeling overwhelmed by the endless options for doubling your search traffic? I am pretty sure that when you built your website or blog, you didn’t nod to yourself and say, “Finally. A website nobody can find.” You may have done so, but I refuse to believe that. I want to believe you built your website with a mind full of hope and enthusiasm.

That you sat behind a computer and told yourself that your website will be the next big thing, the one on everyone’s lips. The one to appear on search engines, to gain numbers. How’s that working for you? Hopefully, good enough. Or maybe not. Whatever the case, it could get better.

With the right SEO techniques, you can increase your visibility and double your search engine traffic. I’ll show you some of those techniques now. Keep reading. Here are 10 SEO Techniques to double your search engine traffic:

1. Understand the Basics

SEO will seem very difficult if you don’t exactly understand the basics. But, know this, it really isn’t hard. At least not as hard as diamonds, even though knowledge of it is just as valuable as diamonds in the world of bloggers and website owners.

SEO means Search Engine Optimization. It’s some kind of process one does to increase traffic to a website via the use of search engines. Traffic, in this sense, is similar to real-life traffic. Imagine a long line of cars down a road. Basically, the same thing. Just that here, there are no cars. Only internet devices controlled by visitors seeking entry into your website or blog.

When a person inputs a search on a search engine, for example, Google, the search engine scans a number of websites, seeking results. It soon loads a page containing relevant information related to the search. This page is known as the search engine results page. SERP.

The search engine results page will include images, websites, etc.

The first set of websites to appear are properly optimized. And the ones that don’t may have a problem with search engine optimization.

Although, sometimes, it depends on the Keyword Difficulty. Millions of websites may be vying for a particular set of key phrases. For this reason, it will be hard to outrank the top websites but that shouldn’t for once discourage you.

All the websites you see at the forefront at one point in time were in the same position you are right now, but they didn’t give up. They kept pushing, optimizing, keep looking for loopholes in their competitor’s tactics.

They took a holistic approach and covered all aspects they could think of. Even today, they are still optimizing so as not to drop their current rank.

You see, SEO is a continuous process. You’re at the top now doesn’t mean you’ll forever remain there. Everyone is looking for ways to outrank their competitors. Why? First page. Some even use deceptive means or blackhat SEO techniques which is not right, and you should stay far away from, by the way.

You shouldn’t feel discouraged. Ensure you continuously improve your SEO. Make sure nothing is holding you back, whether technical, on-page, or off-page).

Keep on putting high-quality content out there. People will begin to recognize you. Even the search engines like Google will be awe by your content and rank you. Why? Because you got exactly what their users are looking for.

High-quality content and properly optimized pages get more visits than pages that are not properly optimized.

2. Update Your Content

Search engines do not like cobwebs and dusty and duplicate websites. While they can dig into many websites in a bid to fetch relevant information, they will not explore that deep if the relevant information is just on the surface.

You make the job easier.

Imagine going to the library to fetch a book. Please note that in this library, books are arranged in order of age (do books even have an age? ). Books from ten years ago are far beneath, and books from recently are above.

Imagine that these books all answer the same questions and provide the same information regardless of how old they are.

Will you find any need to dig deep down and fetch the older books when you can just stretch your hand and grab the ones above?

As a blogger, you should try as much as you can to update your content. This works in many ways: sometimes, old keywords change. Keywords that worked ten years ago may not work today.

Write and publish more relatable stories and blog posts. Use newer keywords. If possible, you can link old works to newer ones.

Make your new works more accessible.

Website owners continue to innovate and adapt to search engine algorithms changes and how web crawlers explore the web. Also, new technologies and SEO software become available.

As your goal is to rank for some given search terms and reach as many users as possible, consider adapting to these new changes. You may also want to consider just some of the updated Backlinko Google for SEO checklist methods. It has proven to be very effective.

3. Look Out for Keywords

Think about the last time you made a search on Google. Think about the words you used. They were probably short yet had in them some phrases and words the search engine recognized easily.

From the diagram below, you’ll see how Google easily recognizes a search phrase and gives a relevant webpage and a specific answer that satisfy the request. Google does this by using a combination of algorithms and multiple ranking factors on its search engine results pages.

SEO Techniques to Double Your Search Traffic

How search engines work

Keywords are, simply put, those phrases and words you used—the ones a search engine recognizes easily. Search engines, as I mentioned earlier, work by scanning many web pages across the internet, checking to see which one of these websites contains keywords users look for.

If you want your website to have doubled traffic, you should spend time researching the keywords search engine users are more likely to use when they do searches relating to your niche.

You should then use these words to write topics. They are quite easy to use. Google has an app that helps you find and track keywords. You can place keywords anywhere in your posts. You should include them in the title and use them in the body of your content. Both are fine.

Please, do not stuff unrelated keywords into an article. Do not also write duplicate content. You don’t want to confuse search engines, do you?

4. Commercial Keywords

There are a group of keywords called commercial Keywords. These are special kinds of keywords that show a searcher’s willingness to know about or purchase a certain product or service.

If a person needs to buy a house, for example, he is likely going to use the word “Best.” in his search because his interest is in the best kinds of the house to buy and possibly live in.

His searches will look something like, “The BEST house on a mountain in Italy with no roofs to buy for two dollars.”

Oh, checking it now, it’ll look nothing like that. But you should get the point.

If one needs to know how to knot a tie or fix a bad shoe, he is going to type the words: “How to” into the search engine.

Include a lot of these commercial Keywords in your writing. As much as possible, especially if you write content that in some way or the other answers difficult questions.

5. Search Intent

Search intent is often called user intent or query intent. It is the reason behind a user’s searches.

What do your readers or visitors search for? That’s their search intent, and you should use it in your favour if you want your online visits to increase.

There are a few types of search intent, and understanding and then incorporating them in your post and articles are going to do you so much good.

Of course, it’ll increase your site’s SERP ranking.

6. Beat Your Competitors

Unique people are easy to find. You will have no problems sniffing out someone putting on black clothing in a queue of people putting on red blouses.

Your eyes would go straight to him.

Have no doubts, your website or blog has competition. If not, it’ll be the only website to pop up on the search engine response page when searches are done.

Don’t be your competitors.

Be unique. Answer questions they usually can’t. Use keywords they have little idea about. Optimize your site until it becomes responsive and beautiful.

7. Internal Links are a Yes

A link is a link. I can’t think of any words to fit in there. You want to join two ends of cloth together? You link them with a thread.

Do you want to join two pages on your website together? A link does the job.

Using internal links is a great way to increase your site’s visibility and have it rank top on search engines

It is amazing in helping you pull visitors to your pages that are visited less. Because, on the more visible page, there are links to the less visible pages.

A real-life “kill two birds with one stone.” Or, in this case, merge two pages with one link.

Mangool says, “Do not underestimate the power of internal linking,” was the answer he often got from SEO experts when it comes to best SEO tips.

Google uses internal links to survey the content on your pages.

When used correctly, internal links will make your page more visible than you would think.

8. Images. All You Need to Know

The use of images is one of the top SEO techniques and they can play a big role in your content if you’re looking to double your search traffic. Great images are aesthetic, and they also pass a good amount of information across.

Use infographics, pictures, videos, charts, or other visual objects to make your meaningful content more vivid. Doing so can make your web content more effective.

Since they can be given titles and alt tags of their own, images can help improve your SERP ranking when done correctly.

You should also note, however, that too large images can slow your site down. Imagine running down the street with a 50kg bag strapped to your back. Of course, you’ll run slower.

An image that is too large is a lot like a 50kg bag on your website’s back. It’ll fail to run smoothly, at least as smoothly as you would want.

This will have a negative effect on your site. If your page runs slowly, visitors will not want to spend a lot of time on it. It’s the internet, not a waiting room.

Reduce your image size. There are a lot of programs and software to help you do this.

Use JPEG for smooth images and PNG for images containing texts.

9. Title Tags and Meta Descriptions

With good title Tags and Meta Descriptions, you make it easy for users to find you and increase your click-through rates on the web.

When your website comes up in search engine results, your title tag and description are what make the user interested in visiting your site.

Include focus keywords in your title tag. If possible, make it the first word on the title.

Keep your title short. It works well.

Your title tag has to take search intent into consideration.

10. Fast Pages

As much as you can, make your pages fast. A fast and responsive page is great to navigate. A laggy or non-responsive one is quite the opposite.

Monitor your page speed, too. There are apps and software or tools to help you do this. You can use Google PageSpeed Insights and Experte Page Speed Test to check your page speed scores. With the former, you can check one page at a time, while the latter can show you speed scores for each of your site’s subpage.

Now, track your progress. Continue to discern areas where improvement is needed, and you can follow through and optimize with more specific SEO techniques in order to double your search traffic.
